It is a Greek (4-lingual) documentary which, with the blessing of the Abbot himself (we will start from St. Nicholas Anapafsas), captures the Meteora in a unique way that has never been documented before. We use cinematographic data combining hybrid photography/documentary/video / aerial/timelapse, a technique that can tell the story of Meteora and at the same time make use of visualizations that will make the audience feel close to being there.
The elements that are making the uniqueness of this documentary special are the unique details/stories of the “protectors†(and saints) who were helpers/supporters in the history/survival of Meteora. With the blessing of the Abbot of St.Nikolaos Anapafsas, we are digging out from the history, stories, experiences and visual elements that have never been seen before.
(Data is collected partially while traveling abroad, Romania, Russia, USA, etc.) but also in combination with a parallel production for the life of certain Saints abroad.
During the filming (1 year, 4 seasons, more than 80 days in Greece) the Religious treasures of Meteora, are imprinted and combined along with the details of a huge archive of the monastery that some of them will see for the first time – in such way – the light of the day. We stay overnight in the Monastery of Saint Nikolaos Anapafsas along with the Abbot and we shoot while praying alongside the monks. A truly magnificent experience.
During this time we are documenting facts and history abroad in Romania, Greece, Russia and more. Some of which are Curtea de Arges, Targoviste, Craiova, Sibiu, Cluj, The monasteries in Bucharest, Diaconesti Monastery, Dealu Monastery in Targovishte, Bistrita Monastery, Oasa Monastery, Monasteries on the Olt Valley και Brasov, USA monasteries such as St.Antony’s in Arizona and more.
A true religious marathon!
